Dear Followers and Friends (hopefully you are both!)
June comes to an end and we’ve had an ioncredible 6 months, with almost 150 gigs! Woah..
So, to close the first chapter of the year we propose a Swing Dance Off @ Le Moon!
Arguably the most awesomely located terrace in whole country, on the 7th floor of the Amajaya Hotel, on the Riverside of the city (154 corner Sisowath Quay), Le Moon has had our band several times but this time it’s different!
Robin and her troupes of Swingers are coming to town to devastate the floor whilst GTS Quartet + genius Kae Lhassan provide the groove. Full cocktail menu and superb dining at Kwest downstairs = great evening.
You don’t have dance, you can just sit and watch (like I do whilst I’m playing..), tap you feet, sip a drink, hug your girl/man/tran whatever you’re into, wink, clap, laugh and gaze at the stars.
THIS Saturday June 30th at Le Moon!
Here are some pics from our latest gigs, what a month June as been!
Ha Ha! How cool, just last week we met Lewis Pragasam, an insanely good drummer who needed a band to fill a spot for this unusual event, on Sat 16th June, opposite Naga, open air, can’t miss the huge stage!
So tomorrow Euan Gray, Riannon (a very pretty and gifted musician) and GTS Jazz Trio perform in front of thousands at the Vietnamese Cambodian Friendship Park!
What a quick turnaround, here a some pics of our sound check, see you tomorrow?
THE ART OF FUSION,
A JAZZ’ART CONCERT BY GABI FAJA TRIO
2ND JUNE 2012, 7:00 PM
INTERCONTINENTAL PHNOM PENH BALLROOM 2
Gabi Faja has explored fusion projects since 2004 in some of London’s most reputable venues. For his premier Jazz’Art concert in Cambodia that combines jazz and classical music, the artist has gathered a trio composed of himself at the piano, doublebass player Sébastien Adnot and drummer Toma Willen.
The Trio engages in an evolutionary line of fusion music, beginning with Bach’s masterful Chorals and continuing with the ancient modal scales found in Ravel’s stunning Valses Nobles & Sentimentales.
The musicians also explore accordionist Astor Piazzolla’s most notorious works – melting sensual tango rhythms with classical structure and jazz harmony – in conjunction with pieces by fusion jazz pianist-composers Jarrett, Corea and Hancock.
Prepare for a unique musical experience that will certainly mark a milestone in the art scene of Phnom Penh.
Tickets are available for purchase from InterContinental Phnom Penh, call 023 424 888 ext. 4413.
Price: USD 10.00 per person including a welcome drink.
Here we are on the Phnom Penh Advisor (edition 16, March 2012)!
So, we are ready for the Big One! Don’t you miss it!
Oh yeah! Philippe from Le Jardin is having us back (March 3rd, 8pm) for more Jazz in the garden!
After last year’s success it’s time to step-up the swing, this time GTS Quintet unveils a new set-list with usual suspects guest-artists Kae (vocals) and Stephan (Sax). Swing from 50s and contemporary renditions of well-known standards.
We just love playing here because of the special vibe we get from the audience and the attention we get from Philippe and his crew.
Let jazz flow.
